Healthy Salad Recipe:

Here’s a quick salad that’s down to basics. Salad greens, vegetables and some flavorful additions make a simple, quick and easy salad that's low-fat and delicious too.

It's the perfect light meal with a bowl of soup, a sandwich or thick crusty bread slices. It also works well as a great side to a fish or poultry entrée. You could also serve this healthy salad with one of our quick and delicious pasta salads.

2-3 servings


You will need 4 ingredients for a basic salad:

- Lettuce Greens (your choice)
- Vegetables (your choice)
- Additions (your choice, as many or as few
as you desire)
- Bottled Low-Fat or Fat Free Dressing (your choice)

Ingredients:

lettuce greens – 5 cups
(washed, dried and torn into bite size pieces)
(choose your favorite variety)

fresh vegetables – 2 cups
(cut into bite size pieces)
(choose your favorites – tomatoes, cucumbers, artichoke hearts, snow peas, celery are just a few ideas)

flavorful additions – 1/4 to 1/2 cup
(some ideas: nuts, seeds, olives, blueberries, raisins, cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and
jalapeno peppers)

dressing - 1/2 cup or to desired moistness
(choose your favorite all natural low-fat or fat free
store bought brand)

1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the salad greens, vegetables and any additions (if used) and the dressing.

2. Toss salad well, making sure the dressing is distributed throughout. Serve salad immediately.
